The first quarter has gone by and we’re still looking for that exclusive certified hit. Over the last month-and-a-half, the third season of the Indian Premiere League has kept people glued to their TV sets.
But after the grand finale on Sunday, a bouquet of summer releases are getting set to hit the screens, starting with Housefull on April 30. Sajid Nadiadwala’s story of a loser, featuring Akshay Kumar in the company of two ex-wives, a soon-to-be wife and an easily seduced nanny, will be followed by Yash Raj Films’ Badmaash Company,
Rakesh Roshan’s Kites, Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti and latesr Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. It will be a fair of big banners films. We hope that films done well on the box office and gave bollywood some relief.
Gurgaon, Ranbir Kapoor has stepped up efforts to revive his late grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor’s R.K. Films banner. Though the actor has denied playing the late star filmmaker in a new film, he says the family has zeroed in on some scripts for a home production.
There has been a lot of progress in our plans to revive the RK banner. We have zeroed in on some scripts and we hope to start production soon,’ Ranbir told IANS.
‘The Kapoor family is in the film industry since the past 80 years starting from my great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor, to me and my cousins (Karisma and Kareena). I hope we continue to contribute to cinema in the same way,’ he added.
The RK banner was set up by Raj Kapoor in 1948 and is known for making noted films like ‘Awaara’, ‘Shri 420′ and ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, etc.
On Monday Ranbir and Katrina did some additional shooting for ‘Raajneeti’ at Mona Shourie’s Future Studios long after their dates for the film had dried up.
“We did some patchwork shooting on Monday (March 8), close-ups, etc. Yes. It’s for the betterment of the end-product. We all want ‘Rajneeti’ to be a big success.Katrina and Ranbir have surrendered themselves completely to the project and will do whatever is required,” Jha told IANS.
And the hit jodi is more than willing to shoot extra days to ensure the product gets them maximum attention. Ranbir, just back from Las Vegas rushed to the shooting. Closeups and continuity shots were shot with the duo.
“We certainly don’t want to pitch ‘Raajneeti’ as a dry political drama. Ranbir and Katrina are big commercial stars. We want their fans to see our film as an entertainer.
“At an edited length of about three hours, we want viewers to be glued to the edge of their seats. I wouldn’t call it a multi-star castfilm. I’d call it a multi-actor film,” said Jha.
A sizzling music video featuring Ranbir, Katrina and Arjun Rampal is also on the cards.
The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpai, Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgn.
Mumbai, Konkona Sen Sharma and actor Ranvir Shorey pair up for the first time as lead pair in a suspense thriller, which will go on floors soon.
“They have worked together before, but as a lead pair they are working for the first time,” Denis Selarkar, producer of the film, told IANS.
To be helmed by first time director Amitabh Verma, it is a suspense thriller where every character is knitting a conspiracy against other. It will be shot in Alibaug.
“The film is yet untitled. In the story, every character has grey shade. Every character is trying to outshine the other. There is a mastermind though; everyone is planning some conspiracy against other. This is a suspense thriller,” said Selarkar who plans to release it in November this year.
