It’s unclear if Kanye West truly felt bad about his interruption of Taylor Swift at last month’s Video Music Awards – but he likely will now. The rapper’s much-publicized tour with Lady GaGa has been canceled, as reports indicate ticket sales were lagging. One can only surmise this was due to VMA backlash directed at West.

Sources also claim Kanye and GaGa’s representatives got along with each other worse than Jon and Kate Gosselin, while other insiders say the female singer was the one to pull the plug on the planned concerts.

She’ll likely set up dates in smaller venues now, free from the Kanye drama.

Fans that had bought tickets to the joint performances can get a refund.

Barack Obama thinks Kanye West is a jackass.

Kelly Clarkson can’t even comprehend how much she hates the rapper.

But the woman at the center of this week’s controversy appears ready to move on from it. Taylor Swift told ABC News Radio this morning that she’s heard from West, following his ridiculous interruption of her VMA acceptance speech.

“Kanye did call me, and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology.”

Kanye and Taylor

Last night, Kanye appeared on The Jay Leno Show and said:

“I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt — and I don’t try to justify it because I was just in the wrong… I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve.”

It seems like an easy question, folks, but whose side are you on in this feud?

Michael Jackson has been dead a whole month. That means it’s totally time to anoint someone the new King of Pop, and Kanye West thinks he knows just the guy:

Kanye West.

Okay, not really. But would you be surprised?

This is all a sham, as Scrape TV made up a faux interview in which it quoted West as saying so. And as with some satirical jokes that just hit too close to home, the Onion-esque story was picked up as legit by multiple sources.

Ace Showbiz, Celebuzz, the Superficial and a handful of other news sites all reported Kanye’s claims as fact. While that’s shoddy reporting, and the joke on them, it shows what an egomaniac Kanye West is that this would be blindly accepted:

Despite what some celeb gossip sites are reporting, Kanye West made no quotes about being the new King of Pop. But he probably did think it. [Photos: Fame Pictures]

“You know everyone loves and respects Michael, but times change,” the humble star said. “It’s sad to see Michael gone, but it makes a path for a new King of Pop.”

“I’m willing to take that on. There’s nobody who can match me in sales and in respect, so it only makes sense for me to take the crown and become the new King.”

“First there was Elvis, then Michael, now in the 21st century it’s Kanye’s time to rule. I have nothing but respect for Michael, but someone needs to pick up where he left off, and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.”

Unfortunately, these quotes are all made up. Reports of him hooking up with Kim Kardashian and sparking her breakup with Reggie Bush? Less clear.
