Balaji and Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai promises to be a super-entertaining rewind to the era of romance, smuggling, cabaret and the mafia.
The movie did happen to run into a few bumps weeks before its release. Daughter of Haji Mastan – Shamshad Supariwala took Balaji to the Bombay City Civil Court and demanded a stay on the release of the movie on the grounds that the movie shows her father in bad light. Pursuant to this Haji Mastan’s adopted son also filed a case before the Bombay City Civil Court seeking a similar relief. However, the hon’ble court did not stay the release of the movie and only asked Balaji to put a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie stating that the movie was not based on the life of Late Haji Mastan. The son then moved the Bombay High Court against the order passed by the city civil court wherein also no stay on the movie was granted and the hon’ble Bombay High Court only asked Balaji to issue a press release stating that the movie was not based on the life of Late Haji Mastan.
Seen through the eyes of a police officer, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI traces the changing face of the Mumbai underworld. The film, set primarily in 1970 Mumbai, follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgn), and his eventual fall, when his protégé Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi), challenges his supremacy, and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of Mumbai.
Balaji and Milan Luthria’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI is all set to release worldwide on 30th July 2010

Panaji, A tobacco watchdog organisation Wednesday asked the health authorities to fine Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan for smoking in public while on the sets of his film “Golmaal 3″ in Goa.
In a complaint to the state tobacco control cell and the union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) general secretary Shekhar Salkar has said that Devgn, who was fined once for smoking in public in Chandigarh, deserved more stringent action as he was becoming a habitual offender of the ‘no smoking in public’ rule.
“This being the second violation by Ajay Devgn, we feel that the punishment given to such type of habitual law breakers is too meagre. In view of this, we strongly feel that the penalty under section 4 of the COPTA (Control of Tobacco Products Act) law for both one who violates the law and one who allows violating the law should be increased,” Salkar said.
Local newspaper flashed photographs of Devgn smoking on the sets of “Golmaal 3″ Tuesday with the film’s director Rohit Shetty standing an arm’s length away.
The general secretary of NOTE, which has in the past dragged Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan to court for directly or indirectly promoting smoking, has also said that habitual violators of the COPTA law should be jailed.
“Fine for the first offence should be Rs.500, for the second it should be raised to Rs.5,000 and for the third offence an imprisonment for a period of 6 months, in addition to a fine of Rs.5,000 should be imposed,” Salkar said.

New Delhi, Versatile actor Ajay Devgan has got an grungy makeover for his upcoming comedy “Golmaal 3″.
Conceptualised by director Rohit Shetty, the actor’s new avatar brings out his edgy side for his character Gopal thanks to a rugged style, diamond ear studs, tattoos and cropped hair. The styling for the same has been done by Navin Shetty.
“I wanted all the characters to have different looks in ‘Golmaal 3′. For Ajay, I wanted a character that looked different from everything he has done. He has been working hard on his body a lot, so we will have him flaunting his body (in the movie),” Shetty said in a statement.

Be Ajay Devgan’s guest. So many films about the guest as an intruder. But this one takes the creak. And yes we do mean creak. The plot sets out to portray the ‘bin bulaye mehmaan’, or uninvited guest, as a pest rather than a guest and finally spends agonizing playing time portraying him as a messiah in a dhoti.
Trust Paresh Rawal to get into the skin of his character. From first frame to the last, Paresh has a blast. He doesn’t let go of a single moment of joy in embracing the role of the unwanted guest in Mumbai’s very hectic self-absorbed nuclear family where, as Devgan says in his heated summing-up homily, even parents are not welcome after the first few days.

New Delhi, Bollywood star Ajay Devgan might not have featured in any full-fledged action film off late, but the actor says he still loves his action hero image he was known for.
“I’m doing every kind of film and there has not been any effort for an image change. In fact, I still love my action hero image. But at the same time, I’m lucky that I got the opportunity to do films of different genres and people liked me in them,” Ajay told reporters here.
